A dream job come true. I was asked to be the Director of Photography for a TV show episode for a show called Missions Today. The show covers different mission trips put on my the organization Quiet Hour Ministries based in California. However, for this trip, there was no mission group. We were revisiting churches and orphanages that were built and funded by Quiet Hour in the 90s.
The whole trip was centered around capturing interviews of the church members and the people working at the orphanages to show those giving to Quiet Hour how powerful their donations are to the rest of the world. It was a unique experience seeing these people still so thankful after so many years and seeing how much the help from one organization can do for not only a church, but an entire community.
Some highlights from the trip were talking and hanging out with the local people and church members. They were all so friendly even though they only spoke Russian and we could not. They served us wonderful food and we had the chance to get to know more about their culture and church. Another highlight was visiting the huge cities in Russia, like Moscow and St. Petersburg. The cathedrals and buildings there were just incredible. We also got a chance to visit Irkutsk in Siberia, which was an awesome time. We got into a lake while there and only lasted about 10 secs because the water was so cold.
Overall, I had an awesome time with the film crew I was shooting with and learned a lot! I will certainly keep everyone updated on the episode release, which is set for October of this year on the Hope Channel. I hope to get this opportunity again with this wonderful organization!
